CI Lottery Jackpot £200,000 Short Of Last Year

With two weeks until the draw, the Channel Island Christmas Lottery's top prize is currently £350,000.

This year's lottery launched on 1 October, with the first prize starting at £300,000.

The amount typically rises significantly in a shorter period.

Senior Lottery Officer for the States Trading Group Jon Tyler says there are a couple of reasons why it may be different this year:

"We've got more prizes than we've ever had before, so if you like we've spread the prize fund across lots of different prizes rather than one significantly large prize, so more people get the opportunity to win.

We've also kept the price at two pounds, it's been that price for nearly 15 years now, although inflation has increased."

Organisers are still confident that the top prize will increase before the draw takes place in Jersey on 21 December.

65 prizes from £500 to £50,000 will be drawn at the same time as the jackpot.

Last year's winning ticket was bought in Guernsey - fetching £545,118.

Lottery proceeds are distributed to worthy causes in the Channel Islands.
