Charity Offering Free Boat Trips

Wet Wheels, which enables people with a disability to experience a ride in a fast boat, has some spare places this week.

The Jersey-based Wet Wheels vessel and its crew are in Guernsey this week, offering boat rides to people who may not normally be able to enjoy a  trip to sea.

Where possible, they allow their passengers to have a go at steering Wet Wheels, from a seat alongside the captain's.

Operations director Dina Rogan says there's wheelchair access to the boat and they can accommodate ten passengers:

"The charity is set up to take people with disabilities and we don't charge, so we rely on fundraising to keep her afloat."

On Monday (12 June) they made two trips with people from the Guernsey Cheshire Home. The following day it was the turn of the Ron Short Centre, with Headway Guernsey on the boat today.

Dina says they have some spaces over the next three days and wants people to get in touch:

"If there is an organisation that maybe has six clients who want to come out, that's fine, they don't have to fill the boat."

Dina can be contacted on 07797 919006 to check if there is space.
