Stroll around the grounds of this large manor house built in 1753 and remodelled by Charles le Cornu in the 1870s, now home to the prep school student of St George’s School. It is assumed that he and his wife Anne planted many of the magnificent specimen trees on the sheltered cotil below the house. The formal sweeping lawns surround the house and include a huge walled garden. The house was requisitioned by the Germans as their west of island HQ, then owned privately before St George’s School moved there in 1979.

Trails through the extensive grounds offer a steep path down the cotil to admire 100 year old Redwoods, Pines, Magnolias and Acers which include the largest in the Island. These exotic species were favoured by knowledgeable plantsmen of the Victorian era who had access to newly introduced trees from around the globe. Visitors with shorter legs might enjoy the trail on the higher ground through the magical woodland that extends from the lawn. Jersey Trees for Life will be offering fun activities for younger visitors with information for all ages.
